Leaving comments and take part in discussions on other blogs is crucial for SEO, traffic and for creating a buzz around your blog. However, it’s almost like an art to get blog commenting right, though. In this post I will give you some pointers and suggestions on how to write comments, that will benefit to you, regardless if the blog is a Do-Follow blog or not.
First, let’s talk about Do and No follow. As you might know, most blogs are adapting the No-Follow tag, for comment links. They do that to prevent spam, and since the No-Follow tag doesn’t carryover any weight, in terms of SEO terms, the spam stops.
Nevertheless, you could still benefit from leaving comments on No-Follow blogs, in terms of highly targeted traffic and buzz.
When I stopped actively searching for Do-Follow blogs and instead started to focus on writing comments that would stick out from the crowd, my traffic increased. Since many comments are just a bunch of; Thanks, Good Post or something similar, lacking of any kind of vitality or interest, I thought why don’t do the opposite? I was dazed over the response, I got in terms of click troughs to my site.
What I did was that I started to write my comments, in a way, so that it would be noticed, both by the readers and the blog owner. Think about it, if a comment catches your eye, you are likely to click the link, too.
Also, many blog owners has decided to moderate their comments, that’s the reason the 100th dull Thanks, will most likely never see the surface of any screen. I also made sure that my comments where 1-3 sentence long, since that will increase the chances of someone actually reading it and click on my link.
Find blog posts that are relevant to your link. Never spam or post comments to blogs that isn’t relevant to your topic. If you leave a comment on a blog about gardening and link your nickname to a blog about hosting companies, you will not benefit from that, it’s just stupid.
Talking about nicknames, never use keyword as your nickname, nor should you use yoursite.com, that just looks spammy and will lower your credibility. Using your first name, will add some authority to your comment and people would be interested in clicking your link.
Picture all the other blogs out there on the net as a free way of generating some buzz around your blog and name, regardless if they are No- or Do-follow. Also, by leaving a good comment on a blog, could be the start of a lucrative relationship with the blog owner, which could result in a great do-follow link, from the main page of the blog!
Now, go out there and start write good, creative and blazing blog comments, that will give some buzz and target traffic!
