SEO, short for Search Engine Optimization, means that you optimize your page in such a way that it helps the search engines, knowing what it’s all about. SEO has changed and will always continue to change, over time.

I remember how it was back in 1997, when SEO was to mixture a bit with your meta tags and placing keywords on top of your page, to get good rankings. After that, words such as keyword density, title tags, etc. was of huge importance, to achieve high rankings.

However, now things have changed, to the better, and today you’ll only need two SEO tools, to get great results in Google and the other search engines.

The search engines have evolved, a great deal over the years, to better meet their users demand for relevant results. It’s logical, if a search engine doesn’t hand out relevant results, they will be forced to close down, since nobody would use it. Relevant results has always been Google’s big advantage, over the rest, and the reason to why they are where they are, today. Other search engines are also looking over their algorithms, to better serve their visitors, with good results. Which are all to your advantage.

This brings us to the first and maybe the most powerful SEO tool at your disposal, your content. You have the power to create something that no other could, and that the search engines requests, relevant content. However, make sure that you create your content with humans in mind, in the first place and, than the engines. The search engines are becoming very good to determine what content that’s generated for humans and not. Which brings us directly to our second SEO tool, actually.

The second SEO tool is something simple, yet so hard to get, links. Since creating, appealing content isn’t that hard, Google has find out a way to determine which content their users would likely want to have. They do that by looking at who’s linking to it. If something is very good, people would link to it, from their websites, blogs or through various social sites. That is called natural linking, and is something that Google pays much attention to.

That is also a good method to filter out spammy content, that is written just for the search engines, since no well established site would ever place a link to something like that. That’s why you must create your content with humans in mind, so that they can enjoy it and help you spread the word. No one would ever tip any one, of content that they couldn’t understand, would they?!

However, if you create killer content and start to spread the word, by using social bookmarking sites for example, your content will soon start to market itself. If you create killer articles, guides, photos, graphics, scripts or music, people will start to spread the buzz around, giving you valuable links. All you need to do is to give it a gentle push, in the right direction!

Well, that was the two SEO that you’ll ever need, content and links. Give your human visitors what they’ll want and the search engines will soon follow in their footsteps. Remember content is king, links are the prince!
